Last year, I found it humorous that upon putting a tomato
plant in the ground, a child asked if the tomatoes were ready to eat now. I
told him it takes sunshine and time to grow. He looked up, saw the sun, waited
a few more seconds and re-asked the same question. I told him it takes months
not seconds, but it would be worth it. Teaching kids the value of patience can
be difficult, but I believe letting them plant and work a garden is a perfect
way to do so.
