Debt

While the budget debate continues in Washington D.C., here in our little corner of Washington State is another budget crisis. It is our household budget.

Let’s face it, most of us are in debt. However, it seems some people are better prepared to handle it. We are not those people, as evidence by our lack of funds in the bank. When your bills are higher than your income something is going to have to get cut. We’ve cut out cable TV, a vast amount of eating out, and our phone bill is as basic as we can get away with, all a couple years ago, but still are having financial issues.

Alas, one must consider how many jobs they have to have in order to put food on the table and survive, versus their own personal happiness. Which, with the cost of most basic things going up during a time when wages and hours and jobs are still going down, is becoming increasingly difficult to do. However, I’m sure there will be a bright side to all of this. Or at least I have to believe that there will be.

  1. I too am still looking for that bright side, because everytime I get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, something throws another few dark colored bags over my head, that takes a while to remove again to start looking for the light.
